The monarchs are leaving,
The day light is less,
The nights are a chilling,
Enjoy, grab a chair and rest!

September

by Helen Hunt Jackson 1835-1885

The golden rod is yellow;
The corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.

This is one of my favorite poems! I just love it so I wanted to share it with you. I had to memorize it as a child in school many, many years ago and I always think of it this time of year. The photo was taken a couple of years ago of me and my cranberry crab apple trees just laden with fruit. Good memories!
