Sent June 1, 2011The sun awoke And it's not joke The plants are happy
So there's no more time for napping! Hello, The barn fields are finally looking great. On Thursday, May 26 three of them got opened. The chickens were fluffing in the soil. I
wanted to roll in it also but was afraid I couldn't get up afterward. It was a grand day! Remember you can plant all of June. I'm open Monday through Saturday now in June. Maybe some Sundays,
depending on the weather. Call ahead to make sure. 952-442-4816. I have great soil for your pots. Also worm castings to enhance the growing of your plants. Jacks fertilixer is the best for
flower beds and for container gardening. All plants and seeds are not created equal. I have the best seeds and plants for vegetable gardens. |

Grow cilantro from seed only, do not buy plants. You need to continue to plant seed about a week or so apart. The
plants you bought turn to coriander right away and are shot. When you grow cilantro from seed and plant often you have fresh cilantro all summer. |
And of course all the garden advice you need is available from me in person or get my updated book,
Gardening According to Donna - With Canning Appendix. It can help you become a successful gardener. I added the canning tips section to the book I published last year full of 50
plus years of gardening expertise. Last year's version sold out quickly so I reprinted the updated edition this spring. Call or stop by to purchase mybook! Its a great resource for any gardener
or want-to-be gardener . |

May Recipe - Rhubarb Pie! 1 pie crust - 9 inch pie plate 4 cups rhubarb cut up (fresh from At the Farm
) 6 tablespoons flour 2 cups sugar 3 egg yolks 1 whole egg |
|
Put flour and sugar in sifter. Beat together the 3 egg yolks and 1 whole egg.
Mix sugar, flour, and beaten egg mixture with rhubarb. Put in pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for 40-50 minutes. If you don't want to make the meringue recipe below, you can top with a
lattice pie crust and bake at 425 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Meringue 3 egg whites 1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter 6 tablespoons sugar Beat egg whites and cream of
tarter until fluffy. Add sugar a little at a time, continue beating on high until stiff and glossy. Put on a baked pie (let pie cool about a half hour before adding meringue). Be sure to spread the meringue
so it touches the crust all way around or the meringue may 'shrink' when baked. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Enjoy! When you care enough to Eat the very best, ask Donna! |
