Garden News and Tips! The weather is very pleasant so it's fun to get outside. Be sure to deadhead your flowers and feed them. Maybe prune if needed. They had some stress in all that
heat so work with them now. This is the month to plant or split fern peonies. I have some for sale. The regular peony is split and planted in September. The plant swap for 2012
will be May 12. When re-doing your perennials remember to plant some for the plant swap. It's the Governor's Fishing Opener in Waconia in 2012 so the traffic should be good. The canning tomatoes
are not ready yet. Maybe a couple weeks until I will have them. The pickling cukes are producing well. (see photo) People need to order them as I only have dill for those orders. The dill is
still a challenge. I only have enough for pickle orders. Green beens don't want to set. Can't figure out this problem. My heirloom tomatoes aren't plentiful. They want to crack
before they ripen. Need to pick alot before I find some great ones. The popcorn has set ears. Hope the fall is long so it gets ripe to harvest. |

Responses from Readers Last week I said to reply back with your garden news and this reply is just the best! Keep on writing! Love to hear from you!"My tomato
plants are absolutely LOADED with tomatoes, but hardly any are turning red!? My early girls have a few that are starting, but the roma's, grape and heirlooms are still green green green.
The corn we grew (bought seed from you) did fantastically, but as was expected, the racoon picked half of the corn the night before we went out to harvest. How do they know? It was delicious. We
have huge butternut squash and though the deer ate all of my cucumber and beans, they have managed to regrow and are producing after all! It's always an adventure. Thanks for the inspiration and
help. I grew your onions and potatoes this year and followed your advice. We have grown a LOAD of delicious onions and plenty of good potatoes. We ate the taters all up - none to spare - they were too good
to save." Randi Arnar |
