Gardening Tips

Have you noticed that the seed packets are in some stores already? Doesn't it just make you want to get out and start gardening? Have you been wondering if you need to buy more seeds or if you can use some you have left from last year?

Here is something you can do to keep the gardener in you happy until its time to plant and to test your leftover seeds from last year to see if they will germinate (if they will they grow).

Take a paper towel cut into fourths. Put a few seeds on it (3 or 4) then fold over. Wet the paper towel and put it in a small plastic bag. Fold the bag over but do not seal it.

Put the bag in a sunny window or on a heat register. Be sure to label the bags so you know what seeds are which. In 3 to 8 days check for sprouts. If the seeds sprout they should grow in your garden when its time to plant.

This works for flower seeds also. Pepper seeds do not work but most of the other ones do.

Good Luck!
