Christmas day is coming

Hello,

I have learned to make candy. Its a "bug" I have had for six years!  I finally bought two great kettles. (I almost mortgaged the farm!) Those kettles made all the difference in the world!

I have mastered fudge, peanut brittle, divinity (see photo at right and click for recipe) and caramels. I will take orders or you can pick it up when you visit the Christmas Cottage. YES, I've had to open the cottage, due to customer demand, but on a limited schedule!

 

The Christmas Cottage will be open:
Dec. 10, 11, 12 -
10 am to 4 pm
Dec. 13 - 12 noon to 4 pm
Dec. 17, 18, 19 - 10 am to 4 pm
Dec. 20 - 12 noon to 4 pm
Dec. 21, 22, 23 -
10 am to 4 pm

Come to the Christmas Cottage for:
- Jam and Jelly
- Pepper Jelly - Organic Popcorn - Its Ready!
- Honey from At the Farm
- Maple Syrup
And, of course, my fabulous Holiday Gift Baskets! (see photo)

Remember! I have farm fresh brown eggs available every day all winter! Self-serve from the ice box on my porch.

I can't keep the Christmas Cottage closed, it just doesn't work! I need to be here At the Farm for my customers! I've cancelled my space at the Wayzata Bay Holiday Farmers Market on Saturday, Dec. 19. (See photo at top from the November event.) Its great to be needed! Thank you for all your support of the Christmas Cottage. I love it!

Spritz Cookies
1 pound butter (I use Cass-Clay butter)
1 cup white sugar
2 egg yolks (from
At the Farm)
2 tablespoons cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups flour

Cream butter, add sugar and blend well.
Add egg yolks one at a time and blend well.
Add cream and mix.
Add vanilla and mix.
Mix in flour (sifted) and mix well.
Chill several hours.
Force through a cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Makes 3-5 dozen or more cookies, depending on size and shape.

This recipe came from my friend Joyce Neumann.  She and her mother made THE best Christmas cookies!  They have Norwegian heritage - great bakers!
