Garden Tips for Fall (and Spring)!

Cut perennials off, remove them from flower beds and gardens. Hoe up the soil around the plants. In spring put about a cup of bone meal around them.

The soil in containers and the annuals should be dumped every fall. Always start with fresh new soil in your containers each spring.

Annuals in flower beds need to be pulled up. Then work up the soil in your flower beds. Next spring add bone meal and 10-10-10 fertilizer. This can be done quite early in the spring and then the spring rains will wash it in.

Spring bulbs can still be planted but I do not divide or transplant in the fall. The plants do not have any growth to work with.

If you have tubers under your potato vines (they look like yams or sweet potatoes) do not eat them. Just compost them!

In Spring '09

I will have an excellent selection of garden vegetable starts (I grow)! I have the knowledge and experience to choose and sell only the very best. I want to help you learn to be an excellent gardener. Shop the Best! Forget the Rest!
