Sent June 25, 2008Hello, HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW? My fields are looking excellent and the fresh
picking selections are becoming more bountiful. I'm picking fresh lettuce, beets, kohlrabi, green onions, candy onions, shallots and radishes that would be great ingredients for salads. And I'm picking
rhubarb, beets, kohlrabi, dill weed and parsley now too. The peas are blooming so it won't be long! Summer gardens remind me of those wonderful willow gathering baskets! Do you have one? Well,
bring it in and fill it up with the very best in summer eating At the Farm! Besides the produce I listed above from my gardens also I have home grown strawberries and zucchini. And the Georgia peaches are
here! Sweet corn, red new potatoes, blueberries, muskmelon, watermelon, green and red grapes are available to round out the selection for now. The meadow hay is available and now
its time to be mulching your plants. The summer mornings are magnificent and the aroma of sweet clover and freshly mown hay bring back memories of my childhood. Hope your garden GROWS AND
GROWS AND GROWS!
Enjoy the Summer! Donna |
Cooking Tips for Sweet Corn - Summer's Gold! Stove Top
Bring water to a boil, add corn and when water returns to a boil time for 4 minutes. Microwave For one cob of corn, cook 2 minutes on each side. I do not wrap it in anything. Grill BUTTER the whole cob, wrap each cob in foil and roast for 15 minutes. I roast 7 minutes on one side and 8 minutes on the other.
Remember, overcooking can make sweet corn tough! Butter and Enjoy! |
