Hello,

The weather is getting better and I'll be planting warm crops this week (tomatoes, ground cherries, egg plant, peppers, cucumbers and zucchini). The honey bees have arrived and are busy pollenating the apple trees and soon all the blossoms in my fields.

Try gardening on your deck or patio with my wonderful pre-planted containers of garden flowers and hanging accent baskets. Also, bring in your containers and I can plant them up for you if you do not have time. Or choose from my selection of containers to be filled with my gorgeous flowers.

I have fabulous patio pots of tomatoes, peppers, rosemary, basil, parsley, mint and sage for your great summer eating!

Wonderful fresh-picked rhubarb is now available for your tortes, jams, sauces, breads and cakes. Maple Syrup, Honey also ready now.

Happy Spring!

Even More Gardening Tips for May! - Timing is Everything!

If you are planting cilantro, its a pistol (a challenge) to time the planting so its ready to be picked when needed for salsa, etc. It's way too early to set out plants right now as they will bolt long before you are ready to use it. Seed is the answer . . . and you can plant seeds all through June.

When planting tomatoes, peppers and eggplant plant them in the ground even deeper than they were planted in the container they came in. Take off the 2 bottom leaves and plant deep enough for that spot to be down in the soil. This will give you a better and stronger plant.

There is alot of time to left plant. When Memorial Day used to always be on May 30, that's when planting would start. I will answer your questions about planting if you need me.

Its too early to mulch. The ground is still cold and you don't want to hold the cold in. Always use meadow hay, NEVER EVER use straw! Straw will give you the best oats field ever! Meadow hay does not contain seed so it will not sprout. Wait until end of June to mulch, by then the soil will be toasty warm.

HAPPY PLANTING!
